Going for a Beach Walk with Your Dog? Pay Attention to These Care Tips

During the winter, it’s common to see dogs walking on the beach, and given our country’s extensive coastline, it's natural that you’d want to take your dog for a walk by the sea.

Taking a dog to the beach means fun, lots of play, and a great sense of satisfaction at the end of the day, both for the dog and its tutor. However, there are certain precautions and rules to follow.

Vaccination Up to Date

Make sure your dog is up to date on all vaccinations, as well as internal and external deworming (for fleas and ticks) before taking them to the beach.

More Than 4 Months Old

If your dog is less than four months old or their health status is uncertain, you should not take them to the beach.

Proper Temperature

If the day is too hot, avoid the hottest hours and bring an umbrella under which your dog can rest in the shade.

Things You Can't Forget

It's important to bring a collar and leash, several waste bags, water and some toys for playing and exercising your dog.

Adventurous Dog

If your dog likes to go into the water, be cautious whenever the sea is dangerous. If they enjoy swimming, you can buy an appropriate flotation vest, which will help in this activity and keep them safe.

Trained Dog

The dog should obey your call to avoid the risk of running away. It’s advisable to train them before taking them to the beach.

Freshwater Bath

At the end of the beach trip, you should give your dog a freshwater bath to remove salt and sand, brush them and dry them well. Apply a little saline solution to their eyes to prevent irritation.
