Just like dogs, cats have different feeding, hygiene, and routine needs throughout their life. Do you know how to help them face these challenges?

Feeding

During the first 4 weeks of a cat's life, its diet should be based on maternal milk. After that, it should be rich in protein and essential minerals (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, and iron) to contribute to a normal and healthy development of muscles, bones, and teeth.

Habits and Routines

Cats are creatures of habit, and for this reason, the earlier you create a routine, the easier their adaptation will be. An environment that stimulates their development, with platforms, tunnels, and toys to promote agility and neuromotor development, is essential for their well-being.

Hygiene

Cats are instinctively clean animals, so introducing hygiene rules will be quite easy. Opt for a litter box designed for this purpose and train them to use it.

Frequent brushing is a way to maintain a healthy and beautiful appearance by removing dead hair and dirt. This also helps build a bond between the cat and its tutor.

As cats age , new habits and care are needed. You may notice some changes in their behaviour:

  • Loss of appetite and weight decrease;
  • Reduced water intake;
  • Less playtime and more sedentary behaviour.

Did you know that felines tend to hide their weaknesses?

Health issues related to ageing can be difficult to detect in cats. It’s essential to make veterinary visits a routine to prevent or treat health problems, tooth loss, hearing issues, or decreased mobility.
