Is Giving Your Dog a Bath a Challenge for You?
Bathing a dog can be a challenging experience, so here are some steps to help you with the process, ensuring your dog doesn’t develop an aversion to baths, especially from an early age.
Pay Attention to Their Ears
During the bath, be sure to avoid getting water directly into your dog's ears.
Applying the Shampoo
Mix the shampoo with warm water and apply it evenly to the coat, lathering it all over the body (tail, belly, and neck), while avoiding the eyes and ears. Rinse the shampoo thoroughly with warm water, using your free hand to protect the eyes and ears.
How to Dry
When your dog gets out of the tub, they will instinctively shake to remove excess water. Start by drying them with a towel and then use a hairdryer. To avoid scaring them, keep the dryer away from the muzzle and ears, and be careful not to bring it too close to their skin to prevent burns.
Ensure your dog is completely dry, checking the coat close to the skin. Pay special attention to breeds with thick undercoats.
How to Brush
Finally, brush your dog to remove any loose hair and leave their coat shiny.
Reward
At the end, give your dog a treat as a reward.
Note: Generally, a dog's first bath should only be given after they have had all their vaccinations.
